Description

This is for a design contract for the Tide to Town Middleground Trail with Kimley-Horn in the amount of $929,000. This will be used for design services of task order one for the Middleground Trail which will extend approximately three miles along Middleground Road, connecting Abercorn Street and Montgomery Cross Road in the north with Abercorn Street and Science Drive at Georgia Southern in the south. Both ends will feature safe crossings across Abercorn Street. The Tide to Town network aims to create a 30-mile continuous off-road multi-purpose trail designed for both recreational and commuting use by pedestrians and cyclists.

This contract was procured through a qualifications-based selection (QBS) in line with the GDOT plan development process (PDP). Six firms submitted and were scored based on project manager, key team leader(s), and prime's experience and qualifications, workload capacity, technical approach, and past performance. The City entered into negotiations with the highest-scored proposer to negotiate the price for Task order one. Task order one encompasses concept development, database preparation, and a portion of the environmental document and special studies.
