This contract is for the procurement of two Ford Explorers for the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) from Santee Automotive in the amount not to exceed $87,952. In 2023, the City Council expanded BHU from two to four officers, but the new officers are using unmarked Ford Fusions, which do not meet the unit’s needs. BHU officers wear less conspicuous uniforms and interact with citizens facing sensitive issues, requiring vehicles that are non-descript, equipped with partitions, and ensure the safety of both officers and patients.

Fleet Services has located two suitable Ford Explorers through a state contract with Santee Automotive, available for a limited time.These vehicles meet the BHU's requirements and are crucial for continuing health-focused services. The total cost of $87,951.18, including lights and partitions, will be covered by the City’s Opioid Settlement Fund.

Per Section 2-4154 of the City’s Purchasing Ordinance, the City may purchase goods or services through the use of a state contract. The South Carolina Division of Procurement Services state contract used for this procurement is Santee Automotive, LLC, contract #4400029870 for Vehicles Goods and Services
