Title 16. Motion to Approve Contract Amendment No. 1 for Professional Services Related to the Arena Project with Jones Lang LaSalle, Inc. in the amount of $195,000 to Include the Development and Implementation of a Sustainability Master Plan for the Arena Project (Event No. 5466)
Strategic Priority Infrastructure
Description Recommend approval of Contract Amendment No. 1 in the amount of $195,000.00 with Jones Lang LaSalle, Inc. The original contract was for design and construction project management services for the new arena. This amendment is needed to include development and implementation of a sustainability master plan for the Arena Project to include: the arena site, facility design, construction, and arena operations. This action will ensure the facility is designed, built, and operated with sustainability and efficiency fully integrated throughout the entire project. Further, there will be an enhanced focus on utility efficiencies, mechanical system operations, program operations, and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. JLL suggests this action will result in savings in excess of $200,000 by the time this project is complete. These savings will be realized through a coordinated energy efficient strategy including: enhanced building integration of mechanical systems, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system efficiencies, and improved integration of design, construction and the LEED certification process during this project. This action directly supports Savannah Forward Goal 5.4 (Efficient Government Operations). This amendment will also help inform sustainable facility standards that can be applied to current and future facilities, supporting Savannah Forward Goal 2.5 (City Facilities). Through LEED certification and efficient operations, the City will receive recognition as a leader in sustainability, that will enhance the attractiveness and profitability of the new arena. The original contract was approved by Council on December 21, 2017 in the amount of $2,841,606.00. The total amount of this contract to date, including this amendment is $3,036,606.00, which represents a 6.86% increase.
