Title
53. Resolution Lowering Speed Limits on Residential City Streets.
Strategic Priority
Public Safety
Description

Transportation Services has prepared an updated List of Roads (LOR) authorizing speed enforcement via RADAR or LIDAR by the Savannah Police Department. The new list includes the addition of two school zones for Automated Traffic Enforcement Safety Devices (photo speed enforcement), speed limit reductions for more than 75 residential, collector, and local streets, the addition of more than 30 streets and street segments, and several corrections, including previous scrivener’s errors.

In order to append streets and street segments to the (LOR) issued by the Georgia Department of Transportation, it is necessary for the Mayor and Aldermen approve the recommended changes and submit a resolution to amend the List of Roads to the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

Recommendation

Recommend approval to amend the Code of the City of Savannah, Section 7-1018, Appendix I, Section 207, Speed limits for on-system roadways and Section 7-1018, Appendix I, Section 208, Speed limits for off-system roadways as reflected in the additions and deletions listed in the tables under Code Amendments, and that a resolution to amend the List of Roads be submitted to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
