Description This is to procure Engineering Services from EMC Engineering, Inc. (LOCAL) in an amount not to exceed $4,880,947. This project is partially funded at 75% by the awarded FEMA BRIC (Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities) Grant.
The Stormwater Management Division will use these services to design the Springfield Canal approximately 9,000 linear feet (LF) of the Springfield Canal from the US Highway 17 on-ramp to the Musgrove Canal at Bowles C. Ford Park. The bottom of the canal will be widened to 100 ft to provide 100-year storm conveyance capacity. Approximately 9,000 ft, 1,550+/-ft of the canal widening design between the US Hwy 17 on-ramp to just downstream of the Enmarket Arena has already been designed by EMC Engineering.
In addition to the canal widening, drainage improvements in the Carver Village neighborhood (260+/- acres) and Cloverdale neighborhood (215+/- acres) that are located on the west side of the canal will be designed and permitted. Within these two neighborhoods, there is 26,000+/- ft of the existing drainage system that consists of pipes and ditches that will need to be improved to provide 100-year storm protection.
