Title 58. Adoption of a Resolution to Transfer Title of Property known as 743 East Bolton Street and 2504 Louisiana Avenue, East Savannah, to the Land Bank Authority for the Development of Two Single Family Units
Strategic Priority Neighborhood Revitalization
Description The Mayor and Aldermen have recognized that Savannah needs more housing that is affordable to modest income households. To assist the City, the Chatham County / City of Savannah Land Bank Authority (LBA) has requested that the City transfer title to vacant lots known as 743 East Bolton Street in the Eastside neighborhood and 2504 Louisiana Avenue in the Avondale neighborhood to the LBA. The LBA, in turn, will work with Neighborhood Improvement Association, Inc. (NIA) to bring about the construction of two new houses that NIA will sell to qualified modest income home buyers through the City’s DreamMaker home purchase program. Construction of the new houses is planned to begin in April 2020. Adoption of this Resolution will help the City fulfill its goal of developing vacant lots with quality housing that is affordable to modest income home buyers. The City has, in the past, similarly transferred vacant and blighted property to the LBA for this purpose.
