Strategic Priority Good Government
Description Recommend approval to authorize the City Manager to execute an annual contract with Southeast Corrections for probation services at the Recorder’s Court. Recorder’s Court will be piggy backing off of the Municipal Court of Tybee Island, Georgia. All services by the contractor are provided at no cost to the City of Savannah. Fees are paid by the probationers as specified in the contract. In addition to the expiration date agreed upon in the contract, there is a termination provision within the contract that allows the City of Savannah to terminate the contract with or without cause with 30 days notification. Southeast Corrections has been satisfactorily providing this service for the Recorder's Court since March 2013. The judges of the Recorder’s Court are unanimous in their recommendation to continue the contractual relationship with Southeast Corrections. Southeast Corrections is highly respected in the probation industry. They have never been sanctioned by the Department of Community Supervision and their annual audits are above average as compared to others in the industry. The contract term shall be from August 29, 2019 through December 31, 2020.
