This transfer will facilitate the development of 38 permanent supportive housing cottages and a resident services building for persons experiencing homelessness.

Description

This is a resolution authorizing the transfer of approximately 5.3 acres of vacant land owned by the City of Savannah that includes and adjoins 65 Dundee Street to the Chatham County/City of Savannah Land Bank Authority (LBA) to facilitate the development of 38 permanent supportive housing cottages and a resident services building for persons experiencing homelessness. This vacant land is to be known as the Dundee Cottages site. The LBA will make the property available to CHSA Development, Inc. for the construction of the cottages and resident services building. 

 

Once construction is complete, CHSA Development will make the cottages and resident services building available to the Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless (CSAH). CSAH will provide management and supportive services to residents of Dundee Cottages and of the adjoining Cove at Dundee site. Once construction on the Dundee Cottages site is complete, it and the adjoining Cove at Dundee site, will provide permanent supportive housing to 84 households experiencing homelessness. Development of the Dundee Cottages site is expected to be complete by July 2023.
