Description

This is a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a FY 2022 contract with Chatham-Savannah Authority for the Homeless for the provision of street outreach for people experiencing homelessness. The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah approved the City’s FY 2022 Service Program and Budget on December 9, 2021, which allocated $500,000 in General Funds for a Homeless Support Services Grant Program. 

 

On May 31, 2022, the City of Savannah announced the release of an RFP for Street Outreach for People Experiencing Homelessness (Street Outreach). The RFP was advertised in the Savannah Morning News, the Savannah Tribune, the City’s website, and shared by the Continuum of Care lead agency to the coordinated entry network. Proposals were due to the Human Services Department by June 30, 2022. The following proposal is recommended for funding: Savannah Homelessness Outreach Team (SHOT), submitted by the Chatham-Savannah Authority for the Homeless for an amount of $155,000. The proposed Savannah Homeless Outreach Team will target individuals and families experiencing homelessness and/or at risk of homelessness to expand the points of access to services and provide transportation services needed to increase the health, safety, and quality of life of these people. Chatham-Savannah Authority for the Homeless has 33 years of experience providing street outreach and services to people experiencing homelessness in the Chatham-Savannah area.
