Description

This is for a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a FY 2022 contract with Union Mission, Inc., for the provision of a day services center for people experiencing homelessness. The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah approved the City’s FY 2022 Service Program and Budget on December 9, 2021, which allocated $500,000 in General Funds for a Homeless Support Services Grant Program.

 

On May 31, 2022, the City of Savannah announced the release of an RFP for a Day Services Center for People Experiencing Homelessness (Day Center). The RFP was advertised in the Savannah Morning News, the Savannah Tribune, the City’s website, and shared by the Continuum of Care lead agency to the coordinated entry network. Proposals were due to the Human Services Department by June 30, 2022. The following proposal is recommended for funding: Day Services Center, submitted by Union Mission for an amount of $226,279. The proposed Day Services Center will provide a safe, clean space for meeting basic needs, socialization, interaction, respite, and connections to supportive services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Union Mission, Inc. is a long-standing homelessness service provider with more than 80 years of experience in managing shelter programs and offering homelessness services in the Savannah community.
