This amendment includes engineering services for the design of a stormwater detention pond on existing City-owned parcels near Costa Rica Street and East 57th Street. This service ensures that necessary stormwater detention and floodplain mitigation requirements associated with the project are satisfied pursuant to the City of Savannah Stormwater Management Ordinance and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The work will be coordinated with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the City’s Stormwater Department, and the Floodplain Manager. The trail is designed, built, and operated in a way that provides a safe and efficient route for automobiles and trail users crossing the 52nd Street bridge.

As a GDOT funded project, the City’s funding responsibility and local match requirement is twenty percent of the total value of this contract amendment. Therefore, the City’s fiscal responsibility for this modification is $16,980.  Funding for this modification exists in the project budget. The method used for this procurement was an RFP. The original contract was approved by City Council on March 15, 2018, in the amount of $499,700. Contract amendment No. 1 was approved by City Council on August 1, 2019, in the amount of $47,000. Contract amendment No. 2 would raise the amount of the contract from $546,700 to $631,600.
