Description

Recommend approval to award a contract to sandblast and re-coat three metal clarifiers with E and D Coatings, Inc. in the amount of $786,639.

This contract will be used to sandblast, clean, prime and paint metal clarifiers to maintain structural integrity. The clarifiers treat water from the biological processes prior to filtration and assist in the sludge handling process. Each secondary clarifier is 20’ side wall depth 120’ in diameter and the weir length is 324’ and 120’ in diameter.

The clarifiers hold approximately 1.6 million gallons of water to remove and separate bio-solids from the waste stream. Since 1994, the clarifiers have not been recoated. Failure to sandblast and recoat the metal clarifiers will cause irreparable damage to the mechanisms and total replacement will be required.
