Title
31. Approval of a Resolution to Transfer Title to Property known as 618 Magazine Avenue to the Land Bank Authority for the Renovation of an Affordable Home
Strategic Priority
Neighborhood Revitalization
Description

The Mayor and Aldermen have undertaken an initiative to bring about the renovation of blighted, abandoned, properties with quality housing affordable to low- and modest-income persons.  The Chatham County / City of Savannah Land Bank Authority (LBA) has requested that the City transfer title of a vacant house known as 618 Magazine Avenue to the LBA. The LBA will make the property available to Mr. Andre Jenkins, an heir to the property who has expressed interest in renovating the house.  Mr. Jenkins expects to renovate the house using his funds and funding from Community Housing Services Agency, Inc. (CHSA).   Once renovated, Mr. Jenkins intends to rent the house. Renovation of the house is planned to occur within 12 months after Mr. Jenkins has possession of the house. The City has, in the past, similarly transferred blighted property to the LBA for this purpose.
