This is Contract Modification No.1 for Pump Station Control Upgrades in the amount of $198,283.51 with Control Instruments, Inc. 
 
The electronic controls that previously autonomously operated the flood control pumps at the City’s Lathrop Avenue, Fell Street, Springfield and Kayton stormwater pumping stations were originally installed between 1977 and 2003. These Programmable Logic Controllers or PLCs and their associated SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software are at the end of their useful life, as repair/replacement parts and software support are non-existent. Stormwater Management Department staff have been working on the replacement of these controls to ensure flood control is maintained for the City of Savannah.  Additional work needed for these critical facilities includes generator status data integration, remote monitoring integration, and fuel tank level sensor integration. 
 
By awarding Control Instruments, Inc. the change order for this work, the City’s stormwater pumping stations will have the same controls, SCADA software, and computers. This will enable the control of all stormwater pumping stations from a single station or even remotely from a smartphone application. 

This contract was originally approved by Council on July 14, 2022, for the amount of $1,419,287.00.  The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $1,617,570.51.
