A recent pinhole and a subsequent inspection of the Concourse Exterior Fire Sprinkler Dry System identified significant corrosion within several branch lines. The deterioration has resulted in unintended fire sprinkler discharges and associated fire alarm activations within the terminal building, creating operational disruptions and increasing the risk of system failure. Given the critical life-safety function of the fire protection system, the ongoing risk of additional failures, and the potential impact on regulatory compliance and airport operations, immediate corrective action is required. Staff is requesting authorization to procure these services under the Airport’s existing Annual Fire Sprinkler Services Contract with B&J Fire Protection. Utilizing the current contract will allow the Airport to expedite the replacement of the deteriorated piping, sprinkler heads, fittings, and hangers, restore system reliability, maintain compliance with applicable fire and life-safety requirements, and minimize the potential for future system failures and disruptions to airport operations.
