Description

Recommend approval of a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a 12-month contract with Economic Opportunity Authority for Savannah Chatham County in an amount not to exceed $100,000 with the option to renew for an additional 12-month period, for the purpose of executing a Stormwater Utility Hardship Assistance program. All remaining renewal options, if exercised, shall begin on September 15 and end on September 14 of each subsequent year.

The Stormwater Utility Hardship Assistance Program will provide key finanical assistance in the form of a credit for eligible low income residents who face difficulty paying the City of Savannah’s stormwater utility fee. The program, in partnership with our Water Utility, will apply a credit to the bill of residents accepted in to the program to cover in full or reduce the cost of the fee for up to 12 months when a community member would need to engage in a renewal process. The program will require applicants to meet established income criteria and submit documentation verifying residency and financial need.
