Title 9. Authorize the City Manager to Procure Water Meter Testing Equipment and Software from Mars Company in the Amount of $74,165 (Event No. 8052)
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description Recommend approval to upgrade the City’s water meter testing unit and software from Mars Company in amount of $74,165. This upgrade will be used by the Water Resource/Water Distribution Division for water meter testing. The original testing unit and software was purchased in 2017 and is in need of upgrades. The upgrade will include new testing equipment, updated switches and a new server and interface that will provide more efficient operational measures for the water meter testing protocol. It will allow the Water Distribution Division to reduce testing times, generate highly accurate results (repeatable within ¼ of 1%), simultaneously test more meters and allow for certification training for city staff. This is a sole source purchase because the City is currently using Mars Meter Management Software and this is the only vendor that can provide upgrades to the current system.
