| Description Chatham County/City of Savannah Land Bank Authority (LBA) is interested in purchasing vacant blighted properties for future development. These properties include a 1-1/2 block area between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Montgomery Street, West 35th Street, and the City of Savannah Police Department Central Precinct. Civis Savannah, Inc. (CIVIS) recently facilitated the purchase of these properties with encouragement from the LBA and City. LBA is seeking approval to use up to $2,450,000 from “1K-in-10” SPLOST Blighted Property Acquisition Program Funds to help it purchase this property. It intends to hold the property for up to five years while it works collaboratively with CIVIS, the City of Savannah, and Community Housing Services Agency, Inc. to prepare a redevelopment and financing plan that is expected to include affordable and workforce housing, and neighborhood retail. | |
