Description

This contract is to procure a chlorine tank hoist replacement from Kone Cranes in an amount not to exceed $51,912. The chlorine tank hoist will be replaced at the President Street Plant. The crane offloads both empty and full one-ton chlorine cylinders for disinfecting wastewater. The crane has been in operation since 1994 and undergoes annual reviews and inspections. However, the current system has reached the end of its duty cycle, and individual components have started to fail. These parts are not readily available and have extensive lead times. Replacing the hoist will extend its lifespan and incorporate modern features and technologies by retrofitting the hoisting units, thereby enhancing safety. One significant upgrade will include wireless control capabilities, allowing the operator to safely manage the hoist from a distance while handling loads. The retrofitted unit will also support compliance with the Department of Water Reclamation risk management plan for chlorine storage and handling.
