33. Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Construction Contract for the New Hampstead West Modular Public Safety Facility with Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC (LOCAL) in the Amount of $3,591,375. The project provides a fire station and a police substation on presently undeveloped City-owned property at 3002 Highgate Boulevard, to provide adequate fire service delivery and a satellite police operations base in west New Hampstead while awaiting completion of future permanent public safety facilities in the New Hampstead area. Description

This is for a construction contract for the New Hampstead West Modular Public Safety Facility with Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC in the amount of $3,591,375. The project provides a fire station and a police substation on presently undeveloped City-owned property at 3002 Highgate Boulevard, to provide adequate fire service delivery and a satellite police operations base in west New Hampstead while awaiting completion of future permanent public safety facilities in the New Hampstead area. The complex will include modular buildings that can be relocated and used elsewhere once a future permanent facility is built on this property. A metal building, a stand-by generator, and site development, including driveways, a parking lot, a stormwater pond, water, and sewer utilities, and other components, will remain for permanent use after the decommissioning of the modular stations. Permanent installations and components reusable in future permanent facilities account for approximately $2,300,000 of the total contract amount.

 

Per Section 2-4154 of the City’s Purchasing Ordinance, the City may purchase goods or services through the use of a state contract. The contract being utilized is the State of Georgia Contract #99999-SPD-S20200901-00021. The State of Georgia competitively bid the contract and it expires April 19, 2025. Terms: Net 30 days.
