This agreement permits the Savannah Fire Department to provide fire protection to the Town of Vernonburg. The Town of Vernonburg fire protection coverage with Chatham County will expire December 31, 2025. Savannah Fire Department will provide fire protection starting January 1, 2026 for the Town of Vernonburg. The term of this contract shall be for a period of one year beginning the first day of January, 2026 and shall automatically renewed for additional one year term unless either party shall notify the other party in writing ninety days prior to the expiration of any term of this agreement. Vernonburg shall pay Savannah an annual fee of $30,015 for fire protection fees for the period of January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026. For subsequent years, the fire protection fees shall be adjusted to be equal to the previous year's fire protection fee plus an additional three percent.
