Title
23. Authorize the City Manager to Execute Contract Modification No. 1 for Concrete and Asphalt Crushing Services for Recycling Services of Stored Materials with United Grounds Maintenance Services in an Amount Not to Exceed $100,000. (Transportation Services)
Strategic Priority
GOAL 1: Increase Public Safety and Our Collective Sense of Security
Description

This is for the approval of Contract Modification No. 1 Concrete and Asphalt Crushing Services for additional recycling services of stored materials at the Sycamore Material Storage Facility with United Grounds Maintenance Services in an amount not to exceed $100,000.

The Savannah Department of Transportation will utilize this contract to crush large stockpiles of concrete and asphalt pieces that have been removed during road and sidewalk repairs. The department can then recycle and reuse these materials for other projects throughout the City. This allows 50% plus savings on raw materials (stone).

This modification of $100,000 includes additional services used to grade lanes, restore road shoulders, and repair unpaved parking lots at City facilities. More concrete has been stored at the facility than in previous years. The concrete comes from active City projects and repairs, such as sidewalks and utility repairs.

This was approved by Council on September 11, 2025, in the amount of $85,000. The total amount with this modification will be $185,000.
