Recommend approval of Contract Modification No. 1 for the Live Oak Street Streetscape Improvements Project with Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC. in the reduced amount of $5,957.19.

The original contract was for the installation of streetscape improvements for three blocks of Live Oak Street, including pavement widening, rolled curb and gutter, lane aprons, driveway replacement, minor storm improvements, necessary demolition, and tree removal. These improvements will reduce standing water along the street and create a wider and safer street.

This contract modification is needed to deduct the cost for tree removal and fence replacement. This work was performed by private vendors after this project’s design had been completed, but prior to the beginning of construction. These vendors were reimbursed by the Housing and Neighborhood Services Department. The original contract was approved by Council on June 20, 2019 in the amount of $198,485.86. The total amount of the contract to date, including this modification, is $192,528.67.
