March 12, 2020 City Council Regular Meeting
17. Authorize the City Manager to Approve an Annual Maintenance Agreement with Malwarebytes for Endpoint Protection Software in the amount of $25,000 (Event No. 7730)
Strategic Priority
Good Government

Recommend approval to renew an annual maintenance agreement with Malwarebytes for Endpoint Protection Software in the amount of $25,000. The Information Technology Department uses Endpoint Protection to guard against malware attacks on the City’s network and defend it again numerous types of threats. This system uses a layered approach of static and dynamic detection technologies to address every stage of a malware attack. These security measures protect the City of Savannah from malicious malware that could hinder City operations if an event were to occur.

This is a sole source procurement because Malwarebytes is the original provider of this software and is the only vendor that can perform maintenance and service on its products. It is critical to have the support of the original provider when it is necessary. This contract was originally approved by Council on April 26, 2018 as an emergency procurement following the City of Savannah’s malware attack that year. This is the third year of the five year agreement with this vendor.
