| Title 20. Approval of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Rotary Club of Savannah, Rotary Club of Metropolitan Savannah, and the City of Savannah for creation of the ‘Herb Traub Gathering Space’ in Forsyth Park Located in Aldermanic District 2. (Park and Tree Department) | |
| Strategic Priority GOAL 5: Improve Quality of Life by Raising Municipal Service Standards | |
| Description Through a partnership with the Savannah Rotary Club and the Savannah Metropolitan Rotary, this MOA establishes a partnership to reimagine the space at the north end of Forsyth Park by creating a welcoming, functional area that reflects how residents wish to use and enjoy this historic space. The Herb Traub Gathering Space used a community informed approach to refine a design and focus on enhancing accessibility, comfort, and usability while preserving the character of the park. Herb Traub was a pioneer in the development of Savannah as a destination and embodied thr welcoming spirit that Savannah holds to this day. After retiring from Savannah’s Pirates' House, Traub became even more active in the community, spear-heading projects for the Downtown Rotary Club that brought lights to the downtown squares, an Olympic Legacy fountain and path to Daffin Park and a clock tower to City Market. Of his many accomplishments on behalf of his native city, he once said “If I was able to do anything to improve my hometown, that gave me extreme pleasure." | |
