Description

Recommend approval of an annual contract to G11 Security, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $34,997.16 to provide security services in the municipal cemeteries from August 1st, 2019 until December 31st, 2020. The estimated 2019 cost is $9,946.56 (August 1 through December 31, 2019). The estimated 2020 cost is $25,050.60 (January 1 through December 31, 2020).

Security services are used in the municipal cemeteries to protect the visitors and assets by mitigating the risks of various crimes and violations. Security services provide a number of benefits to the municipal cemeteries to include, but not limited to, crime prevention and reporting, protection of assets, ordinance and cemetery rule compliance, and customer service. The municipal cemeteries are highly visited historic sites. Therefore, it is imperative that a security presence is maintained to provide a safe environment for the public as well as protecting our historical and cultural assets.

In past years, security services were provided primarily to Colonial Park Cemetery from mid-March to November. This year, however, security services will be expanded to utilize a roving patrol throughout Bonaventure Cemetery in an effort to prevent parking and tourism-related issues. Other security services may be provided on an as-needed basis.
