| Title 15. Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract Modification to the Existing Services Contract with Hazen and Sawyer, PC for Georgetown Water Reclamation Facility Engineering Design services in the Amount of $5,315,000. (Water Resources) | |
| Strategic Priority GOAL 4: Develop World Class Livable Environment & Infrastructure | |
| Description This contract modification in the amount of $5,315,000 is for Hazen and Sawyer to create construction ready documents for the Georgetown Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and to create a conceptual level design for the Travis Field WRF expansion. The City of Savannah is experiencing significant development and residential growth in both the Georgetown WRF service area and the area serviced by the Travis Field WRF. Therefore, demand for sewer has significantly increased.
This modification is to expand the scope of the original agreement between Hazen and Sawyer and the City of Savannah. The original scope of this project was to conduct a study and provide the City with a conceptual design for a Georgetown WRF upgrade. The study of the existing Georgetown WRF by Hazen and Sawyer resulted in the City’s decision to construct a new Greenfield Plant adjacent to the existing WRF.
Hazen will also assist the City with bringing on a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) contractor to perform the work at the Georgetown WRF, and in order to maximize cost and time savings, City staff would like to expand both plants under the same CMAR contract using the same engineer. This would be done as an additional phase that will be part of a future amendment. | |
