Recommend approval of Contract Modification No.1 for Summerside Park with Johnson-Laux in the amount of $24,717.08.

This project is for the Phase I construction of Summerside Park on Clinch Street which is near DeRenne Middle School. The work includes an ADA approved parking lot, a park sign, and fencing.  A playground is also included and will be installed by another contractor. 

During construction, the contractor encountered bad soils on the site. A geotechnical engineer offered recommendations to cure this.  This modification is needed to implement those recommendations.

This contract was originally approved by Council on September 26, 2019 in the amount of $162,927.01.  The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification is $187,644.09.
