Description This is for a final close-out savings modification for the Springfield Canal Bulkhead and Widening Project in the reduced amount of $534,436. This is the first phase of a SPLOST-funded project to improve drainage in the Springfield Basin on Savannah’s westside by widening the canal to its outfall at the river. This first phase widened the canal to 60 feet adjacent to the old City Lot north of West Gwinnett Street. City staff were able to decrease project expenses by modifying the approach to the construction of a pedestrian sidewalk adjacent to the canal wall and rerouting utilities to avoid penetrating the canal bulkhead, as was originally planned. This contract was originally approved by Council on June 24, 2021, in the amount of $3,608,336. The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $3,073,899.96. | |
