Title
21. Authorize the City Manager to Execute the Fourth Renewal of an Annual Contract for Network Managed Services with Layer3 Communications in the Amount of $881,953.36 (Event No. 3886)
Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

Recommend approval to renew an annual contract for network maintenance services, equipment purchase, and security from Layer3 Communications in the amount of $881,953.36. This amount is based on projected needs for the upcoming year.

The Department of Information Technology uses this contract for hardware and software maintenance for designated equipment for the Juniper, Aruba, and Palo Alto networks. These services are an integral part of the operations of the Data Center and all network locations, as well as the indoor wireless capabilities at designated City facilities. This contract ensures that the critical internal and public-facing services to City citizens have reliable infrastructure to support these needs. This foundation also supports secure communications internally and externally.

The method used for this procurement was the request for proposal, which evaluates criteria in addition to cost. Proposals were evaluated on the basis of qualifications and experience, scope and requirements, fees, references, MWBE participation, and local vendor participation.

Proposals were originally received on February 2, 2016. This contract was originally approved by City Council on February 18, 2016 in the amount of $316,294.03. The amount of this contract has increased significantly due to necessary security measures that had to be implemented due to the malware attack that the City suffered in February 2018. This is the fourth of four annual renewal options.
