Title 18. Authorize the City Manager to Procure a Small Steam Sterilizer from Steris Corporation in the Amount of $39,501.06 (Event No. 7720)
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description Recommend approval to procure an AMSCO 250LS small steam sterilizer from Steris Corporation in the amount of $39,501.06. The Public Works and Water Resources Department will use this equipment to replace one of the existing AMSCO steam autoclaves. The steam autoclaves are used to sterilize and decontaminate microbiological testing materials. Microbiological testing is required to ensure the safety of the drinking water and meet state and federal regulations. This is a sole source because Steris Corporation is the original provider and manufacturer of this equipment, and this autoclave will be used with existing equipment that is only available from this vendor. The Industrial and Domestic Water Department uses AMSCO autoclaves throughout its laboratory. Therefore, this equipment must be purchased from this vendor in order to ensure standardized parts and the ability to share the same maintenance and service contracts.
