Description

This is for modification no. 1 of the current contract with Chemtrade Chemicals US, LLC for the purchase of aluminum sulfate in the amount of 283,977. 

The I & D Water Plant is requesting that the City Council renew annual contract for the purchase of aluminum sulfate from Chemtrade Chemicals US LLC. The aluminum sulfate is used in the coagulation process to remove solids from the incoming raw water and ensure clean, safe drinking water that meets all regulatory requirements, which is distributed from the plant.

Chemtrade Chemicals US LLC is requesting a 2.7% increase. This increase is in line with the CPI. The year-over-year change from December 2025 vs December 2024 of 2.7% price goes from $340.48/ton to $349.67/ton.

 

Staff anticipates needing 3,100 tons to meet demand for water. The contract was originally approved by Council on February 22, 2024, under Event No. 9673 for an amount not to exceed $800,000. The total annual amount of the contract with this modification will be $1,083,977.
