Recommend approval of Contract Modification No. 3 for the Sylvan Terrace Park and Walking Trail to Savannah Construction and Preservation in the amount of $47,193.12. 

The original contract was for the construction of a walking trail around Sylvan Park. The project includes an American with Disabilities Act compliant parking lot with access to the trail. Other work involved with the project includes grading, clearing, erosion control, grassing, and future use conduit.

This contract modification will allow the rubberized track to be placed adjacent to the current track. This will require the contractor to pour a new 3.5-foot track along the inside portion of the current track. The new footpath will be approximately three-eighths of an inch lower than the current track. This will allow the rubberized track to be flush with the current track.

The original contract was approved by Council on February 16, 2017 in the amount of $36,144.22.  The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $136,470.83. The second low bidder was Sandhill A.L.S. in the amount of $42,116.00. This modification could not have been foreseen by any bidder.
