Description

Notification of the Emergency Procurement of clearing and debris removal of approximately 11 acres under and adjacent to the Truman Parkway bridge with Johnson-Laux in the Amount of $514,053. The cleanup of the encampment included clearing of vegetation, debris removal, disposal, installation of a temporary gravel entrance to the site, and removal of vegetation under the bridges north of President Street. The Truman Parkway bridge at President Street was damaged by a fire on October 1, 2022, that started in the homeless encampment. In order to protect the bridge from future damage, the homeless underneath the bridge had to be vacated and the area needed to be cleared. Removing the vegetation will create a clear line of sight for the area to be monitored and prevent people from moving back under the bridge. Another fire under the bridge could cause additional damage which could result in closing of the bridge and expensive repairs.
