Title 29. Motion to Procure Elevator Modernization Services from Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC for the East Elevator at the Civic Center (Event No. 6773)
Strategic Priority Infrastructure
Description Recommend approval to award a construction contract for the modernization of the Civic Center’s east elevator to Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC in the amount of $161,378.08. The east elevator in the Civic Center has had numerous services outages, causing the elevator to be inoperable for long periods of time. This project will modernize the elevator system to prevent these outages in the future. This is a sole source because it is the City’s intention to move quickly to expedite this process in order to have fully and reliably functioning elevators in the Civic Center as soon as possible. As a result, the State of Georgia’s job order contractor will be used to perform this project to meet time constraints and City ordinance requirements. The State of Georgia’s job order contract is considered a convenience contract that is available to all State, City, and County public entities. The purpose of this contract is to provide multi-traded general construction services to accomplish small to medium sized projects for repair, alteration, modernization, rehabilitation, and minor new construction to infrastructure, buildings, structures, or other real property. The State of Georgia used a competitive bidding procedure to select Johnson-Laux Construction, LLC to serve as the sole provider of these services for this region.
