This resolution will authorize the City Manager to execute a contract modification with Union Mission, Inc., for the provision of Day Center Services for people experiencing homelessness. The contract modification will extend the contract for one additional year with two options to renew for an additional 12 months.  

In December 2022, Union Mission, Inc. was awarded a contract in the amount of $226,279 to provide a safe, clean space for meeting basic needs, socialization, interaction, respite, and connections to supportive services for individuals experiencing homelessness for the contract term of December 1, 2022 – November 30, 2023. The initial contract estimated that 150 unduplicated people experiencing homelessness would be provided 18,375 meals and connection to services.  During this contract term, Union Mission’s Day Center operated 255 days, served over 600 unduplicated people experiencing homelessness, provided over 25,000 meals, over 100 group counseling sessions, and connected 65 people to housing.

A one month-extension was executed in the amount of $20,000 to maintain services through December 31, 2023 and to allow the next contract to align with the calendar year. This contract modification will maintain Day Center services in 2024, increase security measures, and extend the hours of operation to include Saturdays.
