This is for the purchase and installation of an AutoAnalyzer 500 (AA500) for the lab to use at the President Street Wastewater Treatment facility in the amount of $54,278.

The AA500 will be used to analyze wastewater for Total and Ortho Phosphorous, TKN, and Cyanide.  All parameters are required to report on the City’s NPDES permits for the (5) wastewater treatment plants.  By obtaining the AA500, the using department will be able to guarantee the (5) wastewater treatment plants are delivering the most accurate information for the City’s permits, as the system and software deliver the lowest detection limits and the highest reproducibility results. Seal Analytical is the only manufacturer of this instrument and the accompanying software. Sourcing components from another vendor would result in increased costs and reporting delays due to other vendors not having the exact model. It is important to note that this vendor already supplies other instrumentation used by our lab and also provides unparalleled technology and customer support.

This is a sole source purchase because the equipment is proprietary and the vendor is the only supplier of the equipment.
