Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description Recommend approval to procure a Rapid Deployment Kit (RDK) detector from Ritz Safety, LLC in the amount of $66,280.57. The Fire Department will use the RDK in the event of an emergency to monitor hazmat hot zones and to set up a perimeter if needed. The portable unit detects the release of toxic and radioactive substances and helps determine if a populated area needs to be vacated should a hazardous materials release occur. This RDK will replace an older unit that is non-operable and no longer supported by the manufacturer.
