This is for Contract Modification No.1 for Casey Canal Drainage Improvements - Upgrade to a New 16-Inch Main with The Industrial Company in an Amount Not to Exceed $1,499,905.00.

The ongoing Casey 2 stormwater upgrade in the midtown area calls for installing a new 60 inch storm drain along Abercorn Street from 57th to 58th Streets.  The installation of the new storm drain will subject the existing approximately 100-year-old 16-inch watermain to subgrade disturbance and construction vibrations.  Based on our experience with the aging watermains on 56th Street there is serious concern that the existing 16 inch main will rupture causing severe erosion and flooding with a loss of service. 

Replacing this one block of watermain on Abercorn falls within the Water Department future plans to replace the entire 16" watermain along Abercorn.   

This was originally approved by Council on January 11, 2024, for $40,276,019.  The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $41,775,924.00.
