GOAL 2: Invest in Equitable Community Development & Resiliency
Description

Authorize the City Manager to execute a contract for the installation of new gym flooring and related upgrades with Success Sports Surfacing LLC, in an amount not to exceed $597,529. This project will replace approximately 50-year-old Granwood flooring at Tompkins, Delaware, W.W. Law, and Liberty City Community Centers with newly poured urethane floors. The existing flooring systems are no longer repairable, cannot be refinished, and no longer meet safety and playability standards.

In addition to flooring replacement, the project includes gymnasium upgrades such as motorized bleachers, wireless scoreboards, and new sports equipment, including basketball goals and in-ground volleyball net systems. These improvements support the City’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, modern amenities for residents and youth sports programming.

The Community Center Gym Renovation project was approved as part of the FY2026 CIP process. The vendor has an estimated lead time of approximately 16 weeks for equipment, and we are targeting project completion in September–October, following Summer Camp and ahead of the basketball season.

Pursuant to Section 2-4152 of the City’s Purchasing Ordinance, the City may procure goods and services through a cooperative purchasing agreement. This procurement utilizes Sourcewell Cooperative Contract for Athletic Surfaces with Installation, Related Equipment, Materials, and Services (Contract No. 031022-GER; Parts GSCI 145, GSCI 140, and GSCI 37).
