14. Authorize the City Manager to Execute Contract Modification No. 1 for Design of Middleground Road Multi-modal Trail with Kimley-Horn in the Amount of $804,500. (Transportation Services)

Description

This is for the approval of contract modification no. 1 for Design of Tide to Town Middleground Trail with Kimley-Horn in the Amount of $804,500.

The Transportation Services Division will utilize this service for Task Order No. 2, preliminary design activities for the proposed shared-use path will be advanced along with the NEPA document as required for federally funded projects. Specifically, preliminary design activities will include the development of construction plans comprised of a 2.9-mile-long path profile and cross-sections; hydraulic design; utility coordination; path signing and marking design, including coordination with SCAD; signal design; landscaping design; path lighting design; and attendance at a GDOT Preliminary Field Plan Review (PFPR) meeting. Further, environmental technical studies for ecology and archaeology will be advanced based on the results of field surveys conducted during Task Order No. 1.

At the conclusion of Task Order No. 2, right-of-way and easements will be defined to the point where the right-of-way plans for acquisition ca be prepared as part of a subsequent task order; this future task order would also likely include the preparation of the final construction plans.

This was approved by Council on September 26, 2024, in the amount of $929,000. The total amount with this modification will be $1,733,500.
