This is for the Contract Renewal and Modification No. 3 for Armed Security Services for Various City Facilities with Sunstates Security Services in the amount of $2,938,492, which includes $49,872.99 for Modification No. 3.

This contract provides armed security services at the following locations: City Hall, Government Operations Headquarters, Ellis Square, Coastal Georgia Center, I & D Water, President Street Plant, Forsyth Café, Visitor Center, Adams Complex, and City Garages, in addition to special details upon request. The contract modification is necessary due to the primary result of some additional hours and a slight pay increase. The increase is needed to keep the contract in line with industry standards. Our “ARMED GUARDS” currently start at $17.50, and this increase will bring them to $17.75 per hour. For example, at other locations in the local area, UNARMED GUARDS start at $17.68 or higher. Additionally, unarmed guards come with much lower expectations of service, not to mention significantly lower background standards.

This event was awarded by the Council on December 9, 2021, in the amount of $1,523,837. Modification No. 1 was approved by Council on February 23, 2023, in the amount of $1,317,133.48. Modification No. 2 was approved by the City Manager on May 14, 2024, in the amount of $47,647.89. The total amount of this contract, including Modification No. 1, Modification No. 2, and Modification No. 3 will be $2,938,492.

This contract will expire on April 9, 2026, with no renewal options available.
