Strategic Priority
Infrastructure
Description

Recommend approval to award an annual contract for hydrated lime to Mississippi Lime in the amount of $256,157.00.  The Water Resources Department uses approximately 1,100 tons of hydrated lime per year.  The lime is used for finished water pH control and in the treatment of alkalinity control.

Specific pH criteria are given by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division for drinking water. A proper alkalinity is required to adequately treat raw water into finished water.

Last year the City treated 11.6 billion gallons of surface water for use by domestic and industrial water customers, and 7.7 billion gallons of treated aquifer water for domestic consumption.

The contract term will be from October 11, 2018 through December 31, 2019.
