Description

Bridget Lidy for the Mayor and Aldermen and Phillip McCorkle on behalf of Jack Wardlaw for the property owner, Rockingham Farms, LLC, in conjunction with an annexation petition, are requesting approval to zone an 1036.69-acre portion of 343 Buckhalter Rd #A (PIN 10943 01001) from Chatham County’s existing M (Manufacturing) and P-M (Planned Manufacturing) Zoning Districts to the City of Savannah’s M-CO (Manufacturing – County) Zoning District (File #19-006681-ZA). Plat Book 52 Page 227 provides the boundaries of:

  • An 81.83-acre portion is between Veteran’s Parkway and Hunter Army Airfield and
  • The remaining 954.86 acres are west of Veteran’s Parkway.

On December 5, 2019, the Mayor and Aldermen acknowledged the receipt of an annexation petition for these parcels with an aggregate of 1,036.69 acres.  On May 28, 2020, the Mayor and Aldermen approved a development agreement as a Public-Private Partnership (P3) that will establish an interchange and extended water/sewer to Rockingham Farms.  

Additional public notification included letters sent to 48 property owners within 300 feet of the subject property. Public notices were also placed in the Savannah Morning News on December 23, 2019 and May 27, 2020. Signs were also posted on the parcel advertising the zoning hearing date of June 11, 2020.
