Description

Recommend approval of a construction contract for the DeLesseps widening project with APAC-Atlantic, Inc. in the amount of $6,910,645.

The DeLesseps Widening Project will implement the City of Savannah’s Complete Streets ordinance. The project will include adding sidewalks and bike lanes in both the east and west directions. This project will also improve drainage by adding curb and gutter, pipe and drainage inlets along the limits of the project. Pedestrian facilities at two existing traffic signals will be upgraded. The limits of the project are along DeLesseps Ave. from Waters Ave. to Skidaway Rd.

The purpose of this project is the improvement of bike and pedestrian safety. Currenty, bikes and pedestrians are using travel lanes and unpaved shoulders as travelways. There’s also a need to improve drainage along this corridor due to ongoing drainage issues.
