The Liberty City Community Center needs more parking. Therefore, staff have negotiated a purchase and sale agreement to acquire an 0.038-acre portion of the adjoining parcel owned by Berean Bible Chapel, Inc. (Berean). The 167’ x 10’ sliver of land will be used along with existing lands to construct and add about a dozen more parking spaces at the community center. An appraisal was performed by a third-party Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) designated real estate appraiser who determined the fair market value of the strip of land to be $2,500. Berean has agreed to the purchase price of $2,500 under the condition that the City also re-stripe a portion of their current parking lot at an expected cost of $1,000, for a total cost of approximately $3,500. Also requested is authorization for the City Manager to approve the cost to restripe parking spaces and execute associated closing documents.
