COUNCIL WORK SESSION &
CITY MANAGER’S BRIEFING
April 27, 2017 – 11:00 a.m.

 

Mayor DeLoach called the 11:00 a.m. Council Work Session to order.

Workshop Agenda Items
1. Update: Hurricane Debris Removal

Gene Prevatt, Sanitation Bureau Chief appeared to give the final Hurricane Matthew Recovery Update. he stated to date 399, 594 cubic yards of debris have been removed from Streets and Right of Ways, 48, 511 cubic yards have been removed from storm ditches. The total amount of debris removal to date is 448, 105 cubic yards.

All 105 zones have had its third pass for mixed debris removal.

577 stumps and rootballs have been removed to date with 5 remaining which are currently being worked on for a total of 582 units removed.

Council commended Mr. Prevatt and staff for a job well done.

Taffanye Young, Community and Economic Development Bureau Chief

Joseph Shearouse, Jr., Management Services Coordinator presented the Living Wage presentation

Michael Tucker, Executive Director of WorkSource Coastal presented the Hire Savannah presentation. A program designed to increase the utilization of the local Savannah workforce to the greatest extent possible on City contracts. 

Manuel Dominguez Economic Development Department Director, presented the Savannah Business Opportunity Program presentation.

All presentations are attached and on file in the Office of the Clerk of Council

3. Savannah Serves

Marty Johnston, Deputy Assistant to the City Manager and Chief Joseph Lumpkin, Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department presented the presentation.

4. Executive Session: Litigation and Real Estate

Upon motion of Alderman Johnson, seconded by Alderman Shabazz, and unanimously carried Council went into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing Litigation and Real Estate.

 

Upon completion of this session, a motion was made to come out of Executive Session by Alderman Miller, seconded by Alderman Durrence, and unanimously carried.
