Title 37. Approval of the Naming of the New City Services Complex Located at 14 Interchange Court to "Floyd Adams, Jr. City Services Complex"
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description This petition request the naming of a new unnamed facility located at 14 Interchange Court to "Floyd Mayor Jr. City Services Complex". Mayor Adams was affectionately known as the “The People’s Mayor” and championed many the critical issues such as blight, neighborhood improvements, affordable housing and increased investment in neighborhoods like Cuyler/Brownville and Ben Van Clarke. This petition is particularly timely, in that this year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of Mayor Adams taking office in 1996 as Savannah’s first black mayor. The new City Services Complex will create office space for 434 City employees, encompass 38 acres and 11 Buildings, including Development Services Department, Planning & Urban Design, Mobility Services, Water Sewer Planning & Engineering, Capital Projects Management, Stormwater, Water Conveyance & Distribution, Greenscapes, Water Resources, Water & Sewer Operations, Traffic Control Center, Real Estate Services, Internal Auditing, Parks & Recreation and other support functions and assets. All the appropriate procedures have been met as required by the City’s Naming Ordinance (Article E. Section 4-1102).
