This is for contract modification no.1 for environmental compliance services with Atlantic Coast Consulting, Inc. (7 E Congress St # 801, Savannah, GA)^(B) in an amount not to exceed $77,850. The original contract was for the Sanitation Department’s Refuse Disposal Division which uses this contract to provide monitoring, reporting, and environmental compliance management for the Dean Forest Landfill. These services will ensure that the landfill remains in compliance with applicable state and federal guidelines which include the facility’s existing permits. This modification is needed to cover the cost to complete the five-year review of the Dean Forest Road Municipal Solid Waste Landfill.

In 2018, the Board of the Department of Natural Resources revised the Rules for Solid Waste Management at the request of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) to provide a permit review of all operating solid waste management facilities every five years. As such, a permit review application for the Dean Forest Road Landfill (DFRL) must be submitted to the EPD before January 1, 2023. The review is necessary to ensure the DFRL meets regulatory standards and guidelines.

This contract was originally approved by Council on January 3, 2019, in the amount of $65,000. The total amount of this contract to date, including this modification, is $142,850.

Approval
