Title Motion to Approve Amendment No. 1 to Close out the Contract for Liberty Municipal Design Services with Johnson-Laux Construction (Event No. 4560)
Description Recommend approval to amend an existing design services contract with Johnson-Laux Construction for deductive changes related to the Liberty Municipal Building equaling $20,106.81. The City of Savannah entered into the design contract with Johnson-Laux Construction in September 2016 through the State of Georgia’s Job Order Contract overseen by the Gordian Group Inc. The contract was to provide architectural services for the Liberty Municipal Building interior renovation project. The services included as-built drawings, initial project programming drawings, architectural drawings, mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings, and structural drawings in preparation for renovation of the interior layout of the building. The original plan for the building was to create a customer service center with the Revenue and Human Resources Departments to be the main tenants. Services under the contract were completed to approximately 85 percent before plans for the use of the building changed. At this time, Johnson Laux Construction is requesting that the contract be closed out and that the contract amount be modified and reflective only of the work that was completed, relieving the company of any financial obligation to the Gordian Group Inc. for the remainder of the open contract. The original contract was approved in the amount of $134,045.38. Upon approval, the final contract amount, including this deductive change order, will be $113,938.57.
